Setting Some Blogging Targets

Blogging-targets

Well, after my declaration of a whole new start for me, including more posts here at Writing World (thanks for the encouragement on that post, by the way, everyone - it's much appreciated!) I managed to fall at the first hurdle, and didn't update here at all. D'oh.

I have no real reason for this, other than that it was just One of Those Weeks. On Monday I had my first migraine in nine months, and the after-effects didn't really clear until Thursday or so, leaving me struggling to keep up with my posts, and playing catch-up by the end of the week. This is one of the perils of being your own boss, of course, and the main reason why it's always good to have some posts up your sleeve, and saved as drafts, to prepare for just such an eventuality. If only I'd take my own advice, eh?

Anyway, things are now back on track (well, sort of...) and as I tend to be fairly goal-driven, I thought I'd try setting down a couple of goals for myself, to see if I can try and meet them in my first year of blogging full-time.

At the moment, I'm concentrating on the two main blogs in the Midas Media network: my fashion blog, The Fashion Police, and my beauty blog, Hey-Dollface. I'm also hoping to launch another blog within the next couple of months, but for now, those are the two sites I have sole responsibility for, and they're the ones I want to focus on growing.

Right now, I want to try and keep things fairly simple, and so will be concentrating on growing the traffic on those two sites as much as possible:

The Fashion Police: This is by far the biggest site, and our main breadwinner. At the moment it gets just under 600,000 page views per month, so the goal is to break 1 million page views per month by the end of the year.

Hey, Dollface!: Because most of my efforts are concentrated on The Fashion Police, poor Dollface tends to be a little neglected, and, as a result, has a much smaller readership (in fairness, it's a couple of years younger than TFP, too). That said, last month was its best so far, with just under 60,000 page impressions: I'm hoping to double that by the end of the year, and also to post more consistently, rather than relegating the site to second place all the time.

As for Writing World ... well, let's just see if I can manage to post here again this week before I go making any rash promises, hmm?
